John Simons appears in the chassis register as the owner/builder of chassis #038. There are a number of pictures of his bright red 'hopper on the website. I inherited the reference and pictures when I took over the task of managing the website. I thought that the car had changed hands and maybe gone abroad so disappearing from the scene. I recently received a e-mail from John who wanted to become a member of the forum and sent me this.

Hello David,

I quite understand about the spammers - I am John Simons, and I own chassis number 038!

It might be the case that I have enrolled on a previous occasion, if I have, then I apologise, and perhaps you can send my details, please, I'm on a different pc nowadays.

I live in Staffordshire, (Stone), but 038 has been in a friends garage in Cambridgeshire for 6 or 7 years, muffled in blankets, and I intend to get it transported here this year.

My friend is abroad at the moment, so I can't get any help, and I really want to know the total nose to tail length of my grasshopper, to ascertain if it will fit into the intended storage.

It is the red machine, to be found disporting itself on a lawn, in some web pictures, with the number F866 RVL, it's presently on "sorn"

As he lives in Stone I mentioned the forthcoming Vie en Bleu trip which now seems to be a regular fixture in the Pembleton calendar and suggested he might like to come along. He replied

I have to say that I've never been to a hill climb, in fact, I've never even heard of Prescott - I'll look it up.

It's good to know that there's another 'hopper on the road. Let's hope we see John in the near future.
