WARNING - MSVA change of rules

Post by MartinClan » Thu Feb 02, 2017 2:15 pm

Just my luck. I just called the DVSA and as from the 1st of February 2017 you have to send completed forms to a central location - NOT directly to the center you have chosen. :? :? You can however now do it on line - apparently.

When I asked what had happened to my application sent in three weeks ago the reply was - they have probably lost it then.... Great. And what about the cheque I sent? - You had better cancel that....

A few cross words have been said (after I put the phone down).

Robin

PS I have just made a new application on-line. Which basically means sending them the form electronically. The form has changed - you can no longer request a specifc date.

Hi Robin. I have just sent off my form this morning to book a test in March, before reading your post. If they are saying you cannot specify a date it must have been an old form. The form i have used is v4.4 July 2016 which is now out of date. Current form is here: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... n-form.pdf

I have not paid yet so will have a go at filling it in tonight. Bit of a pain not being able to specify a date!!

Dave - where did you send it - it must now go to the central location.

And the plot thickens.....

After getting of the phone (at about 14:15) with the DVSA I completed the new form and sent it on-line to the DVSA. I then hot footed it to the bank and cancelled the original cheque - not wanting to pay twice...

When I got back to the office I found an email (timed 14:17 ) saying they had booked the car in for its MSVA and at the original time and date I requested. As the new form does not have a field for requesting a time and date I can only assume they must have magically found the original one - after saying it was lost. Funny that (not). But of course I cancelled the cheque so I suppose I will have to call them again!!! Arghhhhh

Hi Robin. Sent it to the address on the old form:

Approval Section
Ellipse Building
Padley Road
Swansea

I might wait a few days to see what comes out of the woodwork, you never know with DVSA?

That's the correct adddress I believe.

After a lot of faffing arround and several phone calls I am finally booked in for the 15th Feb. Not sure whether to jump for joy or hide in a corner till it's all over....

Cheers, Robin

Don't hide in the corner, you need to be there to answer questions when asked and to attend to modifications if suggested.
Good luck.

Minor panic over!! Paid the fee by phone this afternoon, so MSVA booked for 21 March. Just a few things to fettle and then a good polish.

Bit of a Pembleton desert in the northern home counties :( I think the closest to me is Tony (weg3) near Peterborough. I am using his engine guard.

Car now on trailer waiting for tomorrow. My appointment is at 8AM which means leaving home at 7AM groan....
